Februar wird der renommierte japanische Politikwissenschaftler Dr. Ken Jimbo Österreich besuchen und in Kooperation mit der Japanischen Botschaft an der Diplomatischen Akademie Wien einen Vortrag über die Sicherheitslage im indo-pazifischen Raum und deren aktuelle und zukünftige Herausforderungen halten.

Dr. Jimbo ist Professor für Internationale Beziehungen an der Keio Universität, außerordentlicher Senior Research Fellow am Canon Institute for Global Studies (CIGS), und Programmdirektor des International House of Japan (IHJ/I-House).
Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte sind die internationale Sicherheit, die japanisch-amerikanischen Sicherheitsbeziehungen sowie Japans Außen- und Verteidigungspolitik.
Er war politischer Berater für verschiedene japanische Regierungskommissionen und Forschungsgruppen, darunter das Außenministerium, das Nationale Sicherheitssekretariat (Senior Advisor, 2018-2020) und das Verteidigungsministerium (Sonderberater des Verteidigungsministers, 2020).
Seine politischen Schriften wurden in der RAND Corporation, NBR, Stimson Center, Pacific Forum CSIS, sowie in den Medien Japan Times, Nikkei, Yomiuri, Asahi und Sankei Shimbun veröffentlicht.

On February 16, renowned Japanese professor Dr. Ken Jimbo will visit Austria and, in cooperation with the Japanese Embassy, give a lecture at the International School of Vienna on the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region and its current and future challenges.

About the speaker:
Dr. Ken JIMBO is a Professor of International Relations at Keio University and a Managing Director of Programs at the International House of Japan (IHJ/I-House). He is concurrently an adjunct Senior Research Fellow at the Canon Institute for Global Studies (CIGS). He served as a Special Advisor to the Minister of Defense, Japan Ministry of Defense (2020) and Senior Advisor to the National Security Secretariat (2018-20).
His main research interests are in International Security, Japan-US Security Relations, and Japan’s Foreign and Defense Policy. He has been a policy advisor for various Japanese governmental commissions and research groups, including the National Security Secretariat, the Ministry of Defense, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His policy writings have appeared in RAND Corporation, NBR, Stimson Center, Pacific Forum CSIS, Japan Times, Nikkei, Yomiuri, Asahi and Sankei Shimbun.
