Geschäftsträgerin Toku bei der 1524. Sitzung des Ständigen Rates der OSZE / Chargé d'affaires Toku at the 1524th OSCE-Meeting of the Permanent Council (12. Juni 2025)

Am 12. Juni nahm Geschäftsträgerin Satoko Toku an der 1524. Sitzung des Ständigen Rates der OSZE teil. Unter dem Tagesordnungspunkt „Ansprache des Vorsitzenden des Ministerkomitees des Europarats, des stellvertretenden Premierministers und Ministers für auswärtige Angelegenheiten und Tourismus von Malta, S.E. Dr. Ian Borg“ betonte Geschäftsträgerin Toku, dass Japan fundamentalen Werten und Prinzipien wie Menschenrechten, Demokratie und Rechtsstaatlichkeit große Bedeutung beimisst und die Zusammenarbeit mit dem Europarat vertieft hat. Außerdem hob sie die ausgezeichneten Beziehungen zwischen Japan und Malta hervor, die in diesem Jahr ihr 60-jähriges Jubiläum diplomatischer Beziehungen feiern. Japan und Malta arbeiteten auch auf internationaler Ebene zusammen, unter anderem für zwei Jahre – von 2023 bis 2024 – als nichtständige Mitglieder im UN-Sicherheitsrat.

In ihrer Antwort auf Statements unter dem Tagesordnungspunkt „Aktuelle Angelegenheiten“ zum Thema „Stärkung der Wirtschafts- und Umweltdimension der OSZE“ begrüßte Geschäftsträgerin Toku die Anerkennung der starken Verflechtung der euro-atlantischen und der indo-pazifischen Regionen durch mehrere Staaten. Zudem wies sie in diesem Zusammenhang auf das bevorstehende, von Japan und Malta organisierte Treffen der asiatischen Kooperationspartner hin, welches am 7. Juli zum Thema „Wirtschaftliche Konnektivität“ stattfinden wird.

On 12 June, Chargé d'affaires Satoko Toku attended the 1524th Meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
Under the agenda item “Address by the Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, H.E. Dr. Ian Borg”, Chargé d'affaires Toku underscored that Japan places importance on fundamental values and principles such as human rights, democracy and the rule of law and has deepened cooperation with the Council of Europe. She furthermore highlighted the excellent relations between Japan and Malta, which mark 60 years of diplomatic relations this year. Japan and Malta also cooperated in the international area, including at the UN Security Council as non-permanent members for two years, from 2023 to 2024. 

In response to statements under the “Current Issues” item on “Strengthening the Economic and Environmental Dimension of the OSCE”, Chargé d'affaires Toku appreciated the acknowledgement of the strong interconnectivity between the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions by various delegations. In this regard, she also pointed out to the upcoming Meeting of the Asian Partners for Cooperation, organized by Japan and Malta, that will take place on 7 July under the topic of “Economic Connectivity”.
