Trilaterale Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema „Die Verflechtung der euro-atlantischen und indo-pazifischen Sicherheit“, veranstaltet von Japan, Australien und der Republik Korea (20. Mai 2025) / Trilateral Panel Discussion on “The Interconnectedness of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific Security” hosted by Japan, Australia and Korea (20 May 2025)

Am 20. Mai veranstalteten Japan, Australien und die Republik Korea gemeinsam eine trilaterale Podiumsdiskussion zum Thema „Die Verflechtung der euro-atlantischen und indo-pazifischen Sicherheit“, an der vier Expert:innen aus den oben genannten Ländern als Redner:innen teilnahmen, sowie etwa 40 Teilnehmer:innen, darunter Vertreter:innen österreichischer diplomatischer Vertretungen, internationaler Organisationen und der Wissenschaft.  

Nach den Eröffnungsreden, in denen die Geschäftsträgerin Japans, Ms. Toku auf das wachsende Bewusstsein in Europa für die untrennbare Verbindung der euro-atlantischen und der indo-pazifischen Sicherheit hinwies, tauschten die Podiumsteilnehmer aus Japan, Australien und der Republik Korea die Ansichten ihrer Länder über das geostrategische Umfeld ihrer Region aus. Darüber hinaus tauschten sich die Teilnehmer über die zunehmenden Überschneidungen des geostrategischen Klimas im indo-pazifischen und euro-atlantischen Raum aus und diskutierten mögliche zukünftige Trends und Strategien wie Japans Initiative für einen freien und offenen indo-pazifischen Raum (FOIP). 

Im Anschluss daran stellten die Teilnehmer zahlreiche Fragen und führten lebhafte Diskussionen. 

On 20 May, Japan, Australia and the Republic of Korea co-hosted the trilateral panel discussion on “The Interconnectedness of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific Security”, hosting four experts from the above-mentioned countries involved as speakers, and about 40 participants, including from the Austrian government, diplomatic missions, International Organizations and academia.  

After the opening addresses, where the Chargé d'Affaires of Japan, Ms. Toku pointed towards the increasing awareness in Europe of the inextricable linkage between Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security, the panelists from Japan, Australia and the Republic of Korea shared their countries’ perspectives on the geostrategic environment of their region. Furthermore, the participants exchanged thoughts on the increasing intersection of the geostrategic climate in the Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic regions as well as discussed possible future trends and strategies such as Japan’s initiative for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP). 

After that, participants asked many questions and engaged in lively discussion.
