2025/3/12

On March 6, Ambassador Iwama attended the Zero Project Award Ceremony held at the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV). In 2025, 77 projects from 44 countries centered around “Employment, and ICT” were awarded the Zero Project Award. From Japan, the Dialogue Japan Society and SoftBank Corp. received the award.

The Zero Project, founded by the Austrian Essl Foundation, is a project that implements activities aiming at a world with zero barriers. Once every year, at the UNOV comprehensive, innovative, and scalable solutions chosen from solutions supporting persons with disabilities worldwide are awarded the Zero Project Award. Ahead of the Award Ceremony, Ambassador Iwama exchanged views with representatives of the Dialogue Japan Society, one of the awardees, and also attended the Award Ceremony.

Further, Ms. Colon, a representative of the White Hands Chorus Nippon, one of last year’s awardees, and Ms. Tagashira, a photographer, attended the Zero Project Conference which was organized in conjunction with the Zero Project Award Ceremony. Ambassador Iwama also viewed the photo exhibition on the Zero Project Anthem at UNOV guided by Ms. Colon and Ms. Tagashira.

The Zero Project introduces activities and projects of various organizations from around the world aiming at an inclusive society. The Embassy of Japan is delighted that several Japanese solutions are highlighted this way.
