OSCE 1409th Meeting of the Permanent Council (February 2, 2023)

On 2 February, Ambassador Mizuuchi addressed the OSCE 1409th Meeting of the Permanent Council as newly appointed Ambassador of Japan in Austria.
Ambassador Mizuuchi congratulated North Macedonia on its assumption of the 2023 OSCE Chairmanship and expressed Japan’s support for the Chairmanship’s human-centered approach. He stressed that now that the international community stood at a crossroads in history, it was crucial for the OSCE, participating States, and Partners for Co-operation, including Japan, to join forces to maintain the international order. Japan, assuming the G7 presidency, would demonstrate the G7's strong determination to this end. In response to Ambassador Mizuuchi's remarks, Dr. Michael Carpenter, Ambassador of the United States Mission to the OSCE, thanked Japan for its strong support to the cause of the OSCE, as well as its past contributions. He further expressed his desire for intensified cooperation with Japan in the future.
