MONBUKAGAKUSHO (MEXT) Scholarship for Macedonian Undergraduate Students

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Sports and Technology (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) is offering scholarships to students, who wish to study at a Japanese university as undergraduate students.

TERM

  • from April 2019 to March 2024, including a one-year preparatory education in Japanese language and other subjects

FIELDS OF STUDY

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Nationality: Macedonian
  2. Age: born between April 2nd, 1994 and April 1st, 2002
  3. Academic background: applicants must either have completed 12 years of regular school education or have graduated from a school equivalent to an upper secondary school in Japan (those who will graduate by March 2019 may apply)
  4. Japanese Language: Applicants must be eager to study the Japanese language

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

  1. Monthly allowance: approximately 117.000 Japanese Yen/month (amounts might be subject to change)
  2. Flight ticket (Macedonia – Japan – Macedonia)
  3. School fees

Important Notes for Applicants

APPLICATION DOCUMENTS:

For submitting your application, please do read careful paragraph 10. Application Documents of the "Application Guidelines Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship for 2019 (Undergraduate Students)". You will have to submit all documents required there, except numbers ② Direct Placement Preference Form and ⑥ Medical certificate. These documents are not necessary for the first application round.

TIMETABLE:

Initial applications to be submitted to the Ministry of Education and Science by 31 May, 2018 at the latest. Applications arriving after this date will not be considered.

Mid of June: Selected candidates will receive an invitation to an academic examination (applicants for a major in Social Sciences and Humanities must sit for mathematics, English and Japanese; applicants for a major in Natural Sciences must sit for mathematics, English, physics, chemistry, biology and Japanese) and an interview (End of June 2018) by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Japanese Embassy. On this occasion candidates will be selected for recommendation to the Monbukagakusho.

December 2018: Successful applicants will be notified of their acceptance by Monbukagakusho as scholarship candidates.

February 2019: Candidates will be given notification of their final acceptance and placement by Monbukagakusho.
